Rabi-Ribi

4.5 out of 5. If you like Bullet Hell, just good well-designed bosses, or if you enjoy challenging yourself with sequence breaking runs, Rabi-Ribi is master-in-class in all three. Accessible to all.

Visual Out

3 out of 5. A weird exploration focused Metroidvania where you use abstract mechanics to progress. If you’re looking for something unusual, its moody atmosphere and narrative mystery can be intriguing

Bad Pad

2.5 out of 5. Super Meatboy as a Metroidvania Rock Opera. Enjoy some of the same clutch platforming gameplay, but now with a large metroidvania map to explore. Not perfect, but wholly unique.

Timespinner

3 out of 5. Local Co-op. Gorgeous visuals and music, and tight controls. Level design doesn’t live up to the standard set by its Castlevania Inspirations. Its unique ideas could be fleshed out more.

Furwind

3.5 out of 5. Not a true Metroidvania, but worth checking out anyway if you like the genre. Great visuals, music, and spot-on controls for fun platforming challenges make this easy to recommend.

Dead Cells

3.5 out of 5 – Roguevania – Delightfully addictive. Fast and fluid combat and movement is designed where Skill will still trump the RNG, but that RNG will still provide plenty of aggravating runs.

Aggelos

4.5 out of 5. An expertly crafted callback to simpler times while still maintaining a modern approach to game design. Unique and imaginative power-ups and puzzles place Aggelos above the competition.
