Pankapu

4 out of 5. Pankapu is an underrated linear platformer with a gorgeous dreamlike atmosphere and some Metroidvania elements to enjoy. Technically incomplete, but the story vagueness may be a feature.

Finding Teddy

3.5 out of 5. Not a Metroidvania, but if you want to try its Metroidvania Sequel – Chronicles of Teddy – I highly recommend you play this one first to become familiar with its musical language concept

Teslagrad

3.5 out of 5. A unique magnet-based puzzle platformer with excellent pacing outside of its one-hit death mechanics. Fans of both puzzle platformers and twitch-based games should check this out.

Knifeboy

3 out of 5. The unique world and story defies Knifeboy’s otherwise unpolished exterior, creating what may be a genius satire. To any believer in games as a form of artistic expression; check this out.

8 Eyes

2 out of 5. Not a Metroidvania. This forgotten classic-vania hits Steam, sharing its unique two-player gameplay and riddle antics with the modern generation. Recommended for game design students.

REDO!

4 out of 5. This Lovecraftian style survival horror side scroller successfully captures the sweet taste of release that can only come after feelings of absolute dread. Highly recommended.

Leowald

2.5 out of 5. High levels of customization and novelty mitigate some floaty controls and repetitive design, however beyond that there’s still something truly special about Leowald that can’t be scored
