The Metroidvania Review is keeping its ear to the floor for any Metroidvania related news, and on a weekly basis we gather it up and share it with you. This will primarily be links to other sites, and you may have already heard the news throughout the week, but in case you missed something we hope to provide a good summary for what’s out there.
If you hear any interesting Metroidvania news – New Games, Major Updates to Existing Games, interviews with Metroidvania developers, or anything else of merit – share it with us and we will share it here on this weekly post with credit given to the finder (Please provide a link to your social media so we can send them back your way.) Even if you find something we already knew about, we’ll still give you credit.

The Metroidvania Review is on Twitch!
We are now on Twitch! So if you want to come online and ask us questions or just hear us chat while showing off a Metroidvania game, you can catch us at 9AM PDT every Saturday Morning!
In case for whatever reason we aren’t able to stream we will update in this weekly news post or with an impromptu announcement if necessary.
We had a bit of a rocky start last Saturday, but we’re ironing all the bugs out. Unfortunately for now it doesn’t look like we can stream Hollow Knight as promised, but we are able to stream Environmental Station Alpha, and we aim to finish what we started. So this May 23rd, join us for Environmental Station Alpha part 2 – where we may get to the part of the game that truly starts to test your skill.

Inspired by Devil May Cry, Vernal Edge let’s you juggle foes, combine abilities, and use the environment to your advantage. Explore floating islands with a lush pixel art aesthetic. A Demo is also available for you to enjoy and give feedback on the Kickstarter Page!
The Last Faith: A Dark Gothic Metroidvania – Expires June 19th
In a world drowned by superstition, face off with horrific beasts and explore a Gothic city in order to subvert an ancient prophesy. Uses a reaction-based combat system with numerous weapons and other options to customize your style.
We’re slightly late on this one, but Bone Appetit did release last week. It’s a whimsical Metroidvania on the shorter side about using necromancy to stop a gluttonous king. We will be reviewing this game on June 8th, but don’t hesitate to jump in now if it interests you.

Earth’s robot helpers have gained sentience and have driven humanity away to an artificial planet. You are a soldier in the fight to take Earth back in this puzzle platformer. Note that there is a demo available on the Itch.io page if you’re interested.
