New Game Announcement

Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World – Confirmed for Switch and PS4
A remake of Monster World IV which was originally only released in Japan, although you can still get the PS3 and Xbox 360 ports, at least from the North American stores. The remake is being developed by the original team and will feature new graphics and new music. It is planned for release in Q1 2021. Monster World IV has been a bit of a gap in our “Metroidvania” style Wonder Boy coverage – and seeing as this version doesn’t advertise a Dragon’s Trap style switch between old and new versions, we still plan on reviewing both versions eventually as our scheduling allows.

New Port and DLC

Control Ultimate Edition – PC (Steam, Epic Game Store, GoG (September 10th)), PS4, Xbox One
A corruptive presence has invaded the Federal Bureau of Control…Only you have the power to stop it. You can now get Control on Steam as well as on GoG on September 10th, giving you more options on where you might enjoy this game. In addition, the Alan Wake themed Control AWE DLC has been released on all platforms (and is included in the Ultimate Edition.) There has been some debate on whether this actually qualifies as a Metroidvania, however the genre has been brought up by the developer as an inspiration, and “Metroidvania” is currently a tag on Steam, thus it has our attention.
