Metroidvania Breakdown
You have up to 5 cool-down based abilities that you use on cool-down - the abilities you pick are more important than timing or positioning.
What little platforming there is has to contend with the odd way Daryl moves. Luckily platforming isn't a primary feature.
It's not exploring in the traditional Metroidvania sense, but it is fun to discover what else Daryl's loopy world has to offer
There are a few button pushing puzzles but nothing particularly challenging.
It's both incomprehensible and oddly genius, but ultimately pointless - and that's what makes it so fun.
The Hand-Drawn caricatures are fantastic and the plethora of animations used for Daryl's attacks only adds to the entertainment.
While most of the songs involve repeating Daryl's name over and over, they're all catchy and addictive.
Theoretically there are enough different abilities to make multiple playthroughs provide a different experience, but your strategies probably wouldn't change that much.
